Can You Believe It?

On my bucket list for awhile has been the Coast to Coast walk in England. It's a walk of approximately 200 miles, so no easy feat. The question was, who would take this journey with me?

Last year my sister Jo Anne mentioned that she would like for us to do a walk in memory of our sister, (Kathy) our mom (Jean) and dad (Joe). Her thought was one mile for each year of their lives. That adds up to 207 miles. Well what a coincidence 😀. There's my walking partner! So, in September of 2022, we are undertaking an epic crossing like no other.

12 years ago I wrote my first blog (the original epic crossing) when Kim and I hiked Scotland from coast to coast. That was one of my favorite trips, and I'm so excited to be going on this similar trek.

Now a bit about the walk. The Coast to Coast walk is an unofficial and mostly un-signposted long-distance footpath between the west and east coasts of Northern England and was created by Alfred Wainwright, a famous British walker and author, in 1973. It passes through three contrasting national parks: the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the North York Moors National Park. It is tradition to pick up a stone from the beginning of the walk and dip your feet into the Irish Sea at St Bees and then, at the end of the walk, dip your feet and toss your stone into the North Sea at Robin Hood's Bay. I have a feeling that dipping our tired and aching feet into the North Sea at the end of the walk is going to feel amazing!

This is the path we will take.

As we've been planning this trip, we've had memories popping up from our Heritage walk in England, Scotland & Ireland in April of 2016. So hard to believe it's been 6 years. We are currently working with a company who will book our accommodations for each night and arrange transport for our luggage from one inn to the next. Once we get all the details ironed out, we will pull the trigger on one more extraordinary sojourn.

It’s now been 10 days since I started this post and we have booked the adventure.

This is Robin Hood’s Bay where the walk will end.

I realize it's early to be sending you this blog but we would appreciate your prayers as we plan and prepare (spiritually, emotionally and physically).
